A fun relaxing weekend.

This weekend was relaxing and fun. Just what I needed.

The weekend started Thursday after I got off work. We hung out at home and watched a record 2 movies! I love to watch movies but Gene not so much. He doesn’t hate it but he prefers shows that around 30 min.

I have Friday’s off so we decided to have a friend and my brother over for dinner. I didn’t think to take any pics though. But it was a fun night. My love made my favorite Mojo chicken, couscous, pasta salad and beer bread…it was all delicious! Or maybe I should say carbo-licious! I don’t know if I had so many carbs without eating pasta.

The carbo loading came in handy cause Linzi from Beyond Destination 26.2 asked me to go on a 10 mile run Saturday morning with her. I gladly accepted! All my runs are usually alone so I was having trouble controlling my breathing at the start of the run. I forgot how to breath, talk and run at the same time haha. The miles were flying by. It was so much fun getting to know her. She is getting married later this month so she busy busy! I can’t wait to go on another run together!

Later that evening I got to go on a little date with my love. Just the two of us out for a few hours having some drinks. It was so nice to talk and enjoy each others company. Sometimes life gets busy and we have to remember to slow down and take time to ourselves.

This picture was taken at the same bar we were at Saturday night but about 3 or 4 years.

Sunday was spent lounging around the house and eating more than I should have. But this week we are both getting back on track with our healthier eating and running, together! Gene is going to train for a half marathon this fall with me! I’m super excited! We went out and got him some new running shoes, nothing makes you more motivated to run than new running gear! I need to get some new running shoes too cause my current ones have got me through lots of training runs, 2 marathons and one half marathon this year, the Saucony Kinvaras. But I’m also thinking about getting a pair of Saucony Hattori’s. Anyone try them out yet?

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

If you have a chance check out my friend Courtney’s new blog Running, Raising and Praising
She is a military wife, mother, runner who is training for her first marathon this October, which I hope to run part of it with her. And check out her before and after pics on the tab Size 14 to 4

  5. I found your blog from Linzi @ Destination 26.2! I'm an Idaho runner/blogger too... we all definitely need to plan a run-up together!

  6. Running with someone is always so much fun, the miles go by so fast.

That's awesome that Gene will be running a half with you. My bf and I ran one together last year and we are running Las Vegas again this year. Running with the person you love is a great feeling. Crossing the finish line together was pretty awesome.

  7. I'm so glad we were able to meet up and run! I really don't think I would have made it through 9+ miles solo! Yay for new running friends! And Cambry is right...we should all 3 get together sometime soon.

  8. Running with friends -- and blogger friends -- is always a win. what a nice weekend you had!

I hate the kinvaras. Hate them. hate all minimalist shoes. That's just my feet though!
