Love long weekends

Hello friends! Sorry i've been MIA for a little bit.

I was mostly busy with work as usual but I did get a 4 day weekend where I spent lots and lots of time with my family. It was very much needed. I got to spend Thanksgiving with my family here in Idaho. Since I was living in WA for the last few years I hadn't spent it with them in a while. Spending this time with them made me realize how I take living so close to them for granted. I'm only a 25 min drive away versus an 8 hour drive when I lived in Tacoma but I only visit every few weeks. I need to change that and at least visit on a weekly basis.
I didn't take much pictures from the weekend but here's my son and my nephew on Thanksgiving.

Besides indulging on way too much food over the long weekend I did lots of reading.

Have you read the Hunger Games? If not I definetly recommed them! I read the first book in 2 days and am now halfway through the second book. I love it when I find books that I can't put down and just have to know what's going to happen next. (if your interested in buying them Target has them on sale and you also get a $5 gift card with the purchase of 2)

I was in the middle of reading Racing Weight when I started reading the Hunger Games.

I may have to start over on reading this one but so far I like it and I think it will help me with achieving my goals for next year :)

Besides reading I've been getting ready for the Las Vegas Rock n Roll Half Marathon this Sunday!!

We leave on Friday and I'm so ready and excited! This week couldn't go any faster!
I'll be posting my goals for this race later this week as well as a sneak peek to my outfit :)

I'll leave you with a picutre that has nothing to do with this post but it's just too cute not to post and some questions...

Anyone else running Vegas RnR?

Have you read the Hunger Games or Racing Weight? Thoughts??

Recommend any good books??

Running and a birthday!!

Today I got to do something that usually only happens on the weekends.... I got to run during the middle of the day! I didn't have to be at work till 2pm, perfect opportunity to go on a run! Well not really go on a run, more like go out to my garage and run on my treadmill. It was pouring down rain and windy so I figured it was a better idea to do my tempo run on the mill.
I love speed work and hill training on the treadmill but tempo's on there on not my fav. I ran a 1 mile warm up with 5 miles at 8:13 pace and a mile cool down. I was glad to be done.

I really liked going to work later just for the reason that I could get my run in before work. I feel much better coming home knowing I have already ran for the day. Not sure if I'll get to do that again though.

And on to the most important part of this post.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENE!!!

Yesterday was his actually birthday so we had a birthday dinner with the Burtons!
I'm so thankful to have you in my life. You are the most amazing person, always putting others first. Making sure we are always taken care of. Always continuing your education whether it's here at home or when you were deployed. All of your Soldiers loved you and now in your new career you are loved by all your clients! I don't blame them, it's really hard not to love you :)  We may have our ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade any of it in. I heart you and I can't wait to spend many many more birthday's with you! I love you!

Today we honor you.

It's Friday and I have yet to run this week. This whole time change has really been messing with me. It's so dark when I get off work I feel like it's bedtime! I either need to wake up early and run before work (since it's dark then too) or maybe try running at lunch time. Only I don't want to go back to work sweaty. Either way no excuses right!

Today I am reminded of one of the reasons I started running and continue to run. For our Soldiers. Today I remember our current heroes and those that have made the ultimate sacrafice. My miles today are dedicated to you...

Gotham City is safe for another day....

I know I'm a week behind on my Halloween post. But it was another busy week... that may or may not have involved some crime fighting with these super heroes....

Batman & Robin

Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, Batman & Robin

There may not have been much work going on during Halloween, who wants to work anyway when we can have our own photo shoot... and what's a photo shoot without a fan to blow the cape around.

With all the flashes going off making me feel famous I suddenly got inspired to pose like the paparazzi were photographing me... well either that or I had to go to the bathroom really bad and was trying to blow a kiss at the same time...

And who was being our fan holder?? Well the doctor of course...

It was the least he could do for us since he totally wasn't within our super hero theme.

Flo from Progressive decided to make an appearance at our party.

The night couldn't be over without us practicing our flying moves... I know Batman and Robin don't fly, but they do in my super hero fairytale...

The work day couldn't be complete without a proposal. Save the date for Batman and Cowgirls wedding!

Since Robin is the best woman they let me have a matching ring.

The fun didn't end there.... Robin and his friend the wrestler Randy Orton had some bad guys to beat up.

Be scared of his bulging muscles and tattoos...

Batman & Robin fought hard that day, and Boise, Idaho Gotham City is safe for another day.

No Excuses November!

Saw this this morning on PlanetGear.com facebook page and I had to share with all of you!

Read this article HERE that talks all about No Excuses November.

Goal is to make no more excuses this month. Set two goals for yourself. One to achieve in November and the other to achieve by the end of the year.

I've always thought the best way to achieve and stick to your goals is share them with others. I shared them on facebook and now here. For November I want to stick to my training plan and get all my key runs done so I can have an awesome PR at Las Vegas RnR half. For the rest of the year I want to meet my goal of running 1000 miles this year and hopefully surpass it! I'm about 100 miles away so I just have to keep running even after the race in December. What do you think... is 1200 possible? If I run 100 miles this month and 100 next month it is :)

The article had some great quotes...

"Procrastination is the grave that success is buried in."

"Someday is not a day of the week."

"You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King Jr.

All of these remind me of a picture I saw posted on Dirty Dash facebook page yesterday...

This is what I need to tell myself when I'm getting home from work and even though the first thing on my mind is a run, it's the last thing on my list of stuff I have to get done.

Will you participate in No Excuses November?? What will your goals be? Please share!
