Finding motivation through others

So it's been over a week since my last post where I said I would blog more, but I promise it's just been cause I've been busy. Busy with work but I was also able to get in some good runs!

Saturday before last I set out for a 10 mile run on the Boise Greenbelt. I knew my brother would be running his first ever 5k race that day with some coworkers so I sent him a good luck text while I was out.

On my way back at about mile 8.5 I saw the runners heading towards the Boise State stadium. I asked the volunteer what time the race started and figured my brother hadn't reached that point yet so I waited to see if I could him. Unlike me my brother is tall so he was easy to spot and I started waving like a crazy person to get his attention...
I ended up jumping in and running half a mile with him into the Boise State stadium where I went around to try to see him finish. I can't say enough how proud I am of him. I was so excited for him when he first told me he was running a 5k. He ended up placing 3rd in his age group!
They got to finish in the BSU stadium and hang out on the blue turf
After chatting for little while I finished off my run ending with 11 miles for the day. But just being so proud of him for running his first 5k helped me get motivated to get out the door and run.

As if that isn't enough motivation I had a running date with Linzi last Thursday.

This run was nothing shorter than AWESOME. I forget how much fun it is to run with someone else, just forget about pace and distance and just run for the fun of the company. If you read her blog you know she is moving to Georgia this week so we chatted about that, our races and hopefully some destination races in the future :)
I attempted to take a picture with the beautiful view of Boise in the background but it didn't work too well

Here's the view I was trying to get :)

We ended up with 5.5 miles of pure fun. She definitely motivated me by just being there and running with me. I'm sad she is moving since we just met and started running together but also excited for her and all the places she will be able to race at. Good luck Linzi I can't wait to read about all your adventures!

With all that motivation I registered for a half marathon which I ran this past Saturday! I'll post the race report on that tomorrow but my time was 1:56 which I was completely proud!

I've learned that the motivation is there, you just have to look for it.  No excuses. Just get out there and do what you love to do. For me, it's running.
